Events on Lesvos Island in the Summer of 2025

Lesvos Island has experienced a season filled with culture, gastronomy, sports, and traditional fairs throughout the summer of 2025. Events held during June, July, and August attracted great interest and brought together both local residents and tourists.


June 2025 Events

Bull Festival (Agia Paraskevi) – June 27-30

One of the oldest traditional fairs in Lesvos, the Bull Festival was celebrated for four days.

The festival program included:

  • Parade of a decorated bull in the village square
  • Horse-drawn procession and outdoor entertainment in the mountains
  • Church service and distribution of local food
  • Horse races
  • Public entertainment in the square and closing night
  • The festival was held free of charge.

Panhellenic U16 Basketball Finals – June 17-22 (Mytilene)

The final stage of the Greek youth basketball championship was held in Mytilene.

The tournament, featuring eight regional teams, was free to watch and contributed to sports tourism.

July 2025 Events

Lesvos Food Fest – July 2-6

The gastronomic festival, held across Lesvos for five days, brought together local flavors and culture from different regions.

Highlighted events included:

  • Olive oil and meze workshops
  • Children's activities
  • Outdoor tasting days in Molyvos and Petra

Sappho Lesvos Festival – July 10-12

This culture festival, featuring literature, music, and art gatherings, took place in Mytilene and its surroundings.

The festival included concerts, poetry performances, and workshops.

Mytilene Night Run – July 12

The night run was held in 5 km and 10 km categories, with approximately 300 athletes participating.

The event also featured a children's run.

Ouzo Festival – July 18-19 (Mytilene)

Held in honor of Lesvos' traditional drink, ouzo, the festival included:

  • Free tasting stands
  • Meze offerings
  • Traditional music and dance performances
  • offered to visitors over two days.

“Open Plomari” Beach Volleyball Tournament – July 18-20

National-level beach volleyball matches were played on a court set up in the center of Plomari.

Professional teams competed in men's and women's categories.

July Summer Concerts

Various major concerts were held in Mytilene throughout July:

  • Dimitris Basis concert
  • “A Night of Queen” stage show
  • The concerts were met with strong public interest.

Traditional Shadow Theater (Karagiozis) – July 14

A free shadow play aimed at children was staged at Mytilene Castle.


August 2025 Events

Skala Kallonis Sardine Festival – August 1-3

Held in honor of Kalloni sardines, the festival featured:

  • Free sardine servings
  • Beach festivities
  • Folk dances and live music
  • among others.

Arion International Guitar Festival – August 1-4

Concerts, masterclasses, and children's workshops were held in Molyvos and Agia Paraskevi.

Molyvos International Music Festival (MIMF) – August 12-19

Under the theme “Khaos,” the festival featured classical music concerts held at Molyvos Castle and nearby areas.

Some events were also moved to Mytilene and Sigri.

August 15 Fair – Agiasos

Celebrated as the largest religious and cultural event on the island, the August 15 feast took place in Agiasos.

Throughout the day:

  • Pilgrimages
  • Service and icon procession
  • Stalls, fair foods, and music
  • continued.

Octopus Festival – August 23 (Nees Kydonies)

Held in the village square, the festival included free octopus offerings, ouzo mezes, and live music.

Aegean Regatta 2025 – August 21-28

The international sailing race culminated at the end of August in Lesvos.

The award ceremony held in Mytilene saw great participation.
