Gate Visa Guide for Traveling to Mytilene Without Going to the Consulate
Traveling to Mytilene Island from Ayvalık has become much more practical thanks to the gate visa application. You can make a short visit to Mytilene Island without applying to the Greek Consulate by completing the necessary documents.
The gate visa is a single-entry application that is only valid on the relevant island, providing accommodation rights for up to 7 days.
What is a Gate Visa?
The gate visa is a type of short-term visa that does not require a consulate appointment, implemented for certain Greek islands. The application is made by submitting documents before travel, and the final approval is given by the border units of the relevant country.

- Travel Day Information
- Port directions and process details (passport control flow, etc.) will be shared before the trip.
The documents must reach us at least 10 days before the trip.
Required Documents
- Color scanned passport (first page)
- ID card (front and back)
- Residence certificate (e-Government)
- 2 biometric photos (JPEG, white background)
- Ferry ticket (round trip; return cannot be open)
- Hotel reservation (paid, in English, with PAID notation/stamp)
- Letter and application form (provided by GÜVENTUR)
Important Warnings
- The gate visa is valid only for Mytilene Island; entry to mainland Greece or other islands is not permitted.
- Applications from individuals with prior Schengen visa rejections may not be accepted.
- Guests with a TRNC entry stamp in their passport cannot enter Greece.
- The gate visa application may be valid only for morning ferry departures during certain periods.
- No refunds will be made in cases of missing documents, delays, or negative results of the application.
- Entry/exit rights to the country are entirely at the discretion of the border police of the relevant country; applying for a gate visa does not guarantee entry with a valid Schengen visa or green passport.
