Your first decision for your Samos holiday should be where you will stay and which areas you want to see. You can plan swimming, village exploration and cultural visits within the same itinerary; however, you do not need to fill every day with long journeys across the island.
Do not evaluate the three towns and villages for the same purpose
While researching Vathy, Pythagorion and Kokkari, review the places you want to visit together with your hotel location. Around Pythagorion you can build a cultural focus, while in Kokkari you can set different priorities such as the coast and village exploration. A place's reputation on the island does not mean it is the most suitable accommodation area for your itinerary.
Separate land and sea transport
For a journey you are considering via Kuşadası or Seferihisar, use our existing ferry port selection article; confirm the date of the chosen sailing and the island arrival point with the operator. Being close to the port and being close to your sightseeing targets can be different preferences.
Touring with or without a vehicle
If you plan to travel without a vehicle, check the hotel departure and return options for the same day. If you are considering a vehicle, assess the driver requirements, the pick-up location and parking needs. Do not assume that every point on the island offers the same ease of transport.
