Bus Transport on Lesvos: KTEL and Mytilene City Guide

When exploring Lesvos with your own itinerary, first determine which bus system you need. The KTEL Lesvou routes that run from Mytilene to the island's villages and the ASM routes that serve the city centre and the airport area are separate operators. Checking the route, the day and the return trip together will make your planning easier.

The port and the terminal are not the same place

The KTEL intercity terminal is at Agias Irinis Square 2. The operator mentions a walk of about ten minutes from the port. This time does not include disembarking from the ship, passport control and baggage handling; consider the passenger entrance you will use and the transfer with luggage separately.

Check the return before you go

For plans such as Petra–Molyvos, Kalloni, Plomari, Eressos or Sigri, do not look only at the departure time. The day of the week and the season can change the options. Check transfers and same-day return suitability in both directions through the official KTEL search for your travel date. An empty result from one online query does not by itself mean there is no service.

City transport and the airport

The central hub of the city transport operator is Sappho Square. The airport directs you to ASM for city centre connections and notes that the stop is in front of the departures terminal. A planned timetable and real-time estimates are different information. First check the timetable for your travel day, then check the stop information you will use.

Planning the return to the ferry

Compare the bus arrival time with the ferry's check-in closing time. Leave a margin for the transfer from the terminal to the port and for possible delays; do not assume a guaranteed connection between two independent transport services. For routes that do not fit your daily schedule, you can consider accommodation, car rental or tour options together. You can discuss your ferry and holiday plans with the Güven Travel team based in Dikili.

Official source check: 21 October 2026. For timetables and fares, check the operator announcements that apply to your travel day.
