Our adventure begins with our meeting at 23:00 at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal. We fly directly to Skopje on SunExpress Airlines, and after completing customs procedures, we head straight to our hotel with the private bus waiting for us. After breakfast at our hotel, we head to Tetova (Kalkandelen) to visit the Alaca Mosque, famous for its magnificent decorations. After a tasting of fresh börek and local goat cheese atop Mavrovo Mountain, we continue our route to Bitola (Manastır). We stroll along Širok Street, view Atatürk’s first love Eleni’s house from the outside, and visit the Bitola Military High School (Museum) with great emotion. Via Resne, we arrive in Ohrid, the pearl of the Balkans. After seeing the Church of St. Sophia, the Ancient Theatre, and the historic plane tree, we check into our hotel. In the morning, we head to St. Naum, where all the colors of nature come together and the source of Lake Ohrid is located. After visiting the Tomb of Sarı Saltuk and the monastery, we cross into Albania. Via Elbasan, we arrive in the capital, Tirana, where we visit Skanderbeg Square, the Et'hem Bey Mosque, and the Historic Clock Tower. We cross from Albania into Montenegro and capture panoramic photos of the legendary Sveti Stefan Island. Seeing Budva, the holiday capital of the Adriatic, we arrive at the unique bay city of Kotor, embraced by steep mountains. Inside the historic city walls, we explore the labyrinthine streets, the Clock Tower, the Pillar of Shame, and the churches. Then, via the coastal road, we see Perast and the iconic island of Our Lady of the Rocks, and continue on to Trebinje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 🍽️ Dinner: Will be served at our hotel (included in the price). 🏨 Accommodation: Trebinje area (Brotnjo, Ivona, Carpe Diem Hotel, etc.)
We start the day with the spiritual serenity of the 550-year-old Alperenler (Sarı Saltuk) Lodge on the banks of the Buna River, which gushes out from beneath the rocks. Then the symbol of Bosnia, the Mostar Bridge, awaits us. After our visits to the Old Bazaar and the Koski Mehmet Pasha Mosque, we continue on to Sarajevo, accompanied by views of the Neretva River. In this city, considered the Jerusalem of Europe, we visit Baščaršija, the Latin Bridge that marked the beginning of World War I, the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque, and the Sebilj. After our breakfast, we cross into Serbia through mountains and lush green plains and arrive in Belgrade, the “White City.” In this beautiful city where the Sava and Danube rivers meet, we explore Kalemegdan, which bears traces of the Ottoman era, the Damat Ali Pasha Tomb, the Sokullu Mehmed Pasha Fountain, and the lively Knez Mihailova (Istiklal) Street. We leave Belgrade behind and return to Skopje, the hometown of Yahya Kemal. In the city divided by the Vardar River, we cross the historic Stone Bridge and wander through the mystical streets of the Old Turkish Bazaar. After visiting the Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Kapan Han, and the double hammams, we take photos of the Alexander the Great and Tsar Samuil monuments in Macedonia Square, adorned with colossal statues. On the last day of our tour, we are heading to the Matka Canyon, considered one of the world’s 100 most natural wonders! After enjoying our pleasant moments in the canyon, we cross into Kosovo, one of Europe’s youngest countries. In the capital, Pristina, we visit the Sultan Murad Hüdavendigar Tomb and then arrive in Prizren, the most charming city in the Balkans. We see the Sinan Pasha Mosque and, during our free time, have the chance to taste the famous Kosovo meatballs. Afterwards, we return to Skopje Airport and, with SunExpress’s direct flight, head back to Izmir and our home with beautiful memories. ✈️ Transportation: Return flight to Izmir with SunExpress.
