You are invited to an unforgettable Balkan dream stretching from the Aegean breezes of Greece to the unique nature of North Macedonia and the historic capitals of Bulgaria!
We will taste Kavala’s famous cookies, visit Atatürk’s house in Thessaloniki, glide by boat on the fairytale lake of Ohrid, and lose ourselves in the historic streets of Plovdiv. Moreover, our guests’ favorite Ohrid Boat Tour and Local Balkan Entertainment are INCLUDED in the price!
Day 1: Night Journey from the Aegean to the Balkans (Izmir - Çanakkale - İpsala)
On the first day of our tour, between 16:00 and 18:00, we begin our journey by picking up our valued guests from designated points in Izmir and stops along the route (Dikili, Ayvalık, Edremit, Çanakkale, etc.). (Your exact departure time will be announced by SMS 1 day before the tour). With necessary breaks, we follow the Çanakkale – Gelibolu – Keşan route and arrive at the İpsala Border Gate, where we complete our passport procedures.
Day 2: The Lands Where Atatürk Was Born and Monastir (Kavala - Thessaloniki - Bitola - Ohrid)
After customs procedures, we enter Greece. Via Dedeağaç and Gümülcine, we arrive in the famous Nea Karvali, where we take a free breakfast break before continuing to Kavala. After seeing the harbor, Aqueducts, and Ibrahim Pasha Mosque, we set our course for Thessaloniki. We visit the Atatürk House, where the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born; and discover the city’s landmarks such as the White Tower, Aristotelous Square, and the Arch of Galerius.
Leaving Thessaloniki, we cross into North Macedonia and arrive in the city of Monastir (Bitola). We visit the Military High School (Military Academy) where Atatürk studied, and enjoy a pleasant walk along Širok Street. After seeing Resen, the hometown of Resneli Niyazi Bey, one of the pioneers of the Young Turk Revolution, panoramically, we arrive at Ohrid, the pearl of the Balkans, and check into our hotel. We go to the restaurant for dinner and to join the Local Balkan Entertainment, which is included in the price. Overnight at our hotel in Ohrid.
Day 3: Ohrid, the Blue Pearl, and Skopje, the City of Statues (Ohrid - Tetovo - Skopje)
After breakfast at our hotel, we take the included Boat Tour on the unique waters of Lake Ohrid, enjoying breathtaking views. Then we stroll through the streets of Ohrid, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list; visiting the Church of St. Sophia, the Ancient Theater, and the famous Turkish Bazaar. After free time for shopping for the famous Ohrid pearls, we head to Tetovo and visit the magnificent and artistically impressive Painted Mosque.
After a short drive, we arrive in the capital Skopje, the city of Yahya Kemal Beyatlı. After touring Skopje Fortress, Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Stone Bridge, and the Old Turkish Bazaar, we see the giant statues in Macedonia Square (Alexander the Great, Philip II) and the Mother Teresa Memorial House. Dinner and accommodation will be at our hotel in Skopje.
Day 4: Sofia and Plovdiv, the Heart of the Balkans (Skopje - Sofia - Plovdiv)
After breakfast, we head toward the Bulgarian border and arrive in the capital Sofia. Among the places we will see are Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St. Sophia Church, the Officers’ Club where Atatürk attended a ball in Janissary attire, and Banya Bashi Mosque. We provide free time for shopping and sightseeing on the famous Vitosha Boulevard.
After free time, we leave Sofia and arrive in the historic city of Filibe (Plovdiv), selected as the 2019 European Capital of Culture and built on both banks of the Maritsa River. Dinner and accommodation will be at our hotel in Plovdiv.
Day 5: Plovdiv in the Footsteps of History and Return Home (Plovdiv - Kapıkule - Izmir)
After breakfast at our hotel, we set out to explore Plovdiv, which bears the traces of Byzantine, Greek, and Ottoman civilizations. We complete our city tour by seeing the Roman Theater, Hüdavendigâr (Juma) Mosque, the Double Bath, and historic neoclassical mansions. After free time in the historic center, we begin our return journey.
Following the Maritsa River Valley, we arrive at the Kapıkule Border Gate. After passport, customs, and Free Shop (duty-free shopping) procedures, we follow the Edirne, Keşan, and Çanakkale route and arrive in Izmir late at night. We bid farewell by dropping our valued guests off at the points where we picked them up, hoping to see you again on our next tour.
