Philippines Diving Destinations and Travel Guide

Diving a trip to the Philippines offers very different island and sea experiences under a single country heading. The same route may not suit reef, small-creature photography, wreck, or shark viewing. The first step is to choose which region of the trip you want to spend time in, before the marine life you want to see.

Separate the country, region and dive site

Cebu is a large travel region; Malapascua, within this route, is a separate island that requires its own transport and accommodation plan. A proposal simply called "Philippines dive tour" does not explain which islands you will stay on. Overnight stays and island transfers should appear separately in the daily schedule.

Why are Cebu and Malapascua separate headings?

The PADI country guide explains the different dive centres around Cebu and Malapascua's relationship with thresher sharks. Marine life in one area should not be presented as if it can be seen the same way in another. Marine life sightings depend on natural conditions; do not build an entire trip around the expectation of a definite result from a single encounter.

Allow time for travel days

International arrival, road transfer, port connection and island crossing are separate stages. Especially for late arrivals and return flights, assess your accommodation needs in advance. When choosing several islands, consider not only the distance on the map but also the actual connection and waiting times.

Which tour model suits you?

  • Dive trip with accommodation: room, meals and diving coverage are explained together.
  • Local dive operator arrangement: flights and hotel can be arranged independently; transfers are defined separately.
  • Culture and diving: city/island excursions are balanced with dive days.
  • Non-diving participant: shared services and separate activities are determined in advance.

Experience and equipment preparation

Have the planned sites reviewed by the operator together with your certification, last dive date and current experience. Ask in writing about equipment rental, insurance coverage, guiding and weather-related alternatives. A general country guide does not create a common depth or certification requirement for all dive sites.

Where does the current programme begin?

This guide provides lasting information for researching future arrangements. For a tour put on sale, the date, price, actual operator, accommodation and total number of dives will be stated separately. Information from past arrangements is not used as a new booking condition.
